Jiji is a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with the CRPO. Her professional background includes over eight years of experience in community mental health settings supporting individuals facing housing instability, complex trauma, substance use, sex work and trafficking, and systemic barriers. She has also had the privilege of contributing to developmental psychology, cognitive psychology, and sleep research.
Jiji is particularly interested in working with pre-teens, teens, and adults who are navigating past or ongoing trauma, including, sexual violence/trauma, domestic violence/intimate partner violence, sexual health and sexually transmitted illnesses, cross-cultural stigmas around sex and sexuality, LGBTQIA+ mental health, and race- and culture-based traumas.
Jiji takes a collaborative, client-centred approach to therapy and strives to create an environment rooted in trust, transparency, and non-judgment. Jiji’s work is grounded in culturally competent practices and trauma-informed care. She typically draw on Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Motivational Interviewing (MI), while also integrating mindfulness-based tools. She is especially passionate about supporting individuals from under-represented groups, and brings an anti-oppressive lens to her work.
